3 Marriage Prayers of 2024
Good Thursday Morning!
As the year winds down, I start looking forward to different groups releasing their Best of or Top of 2024 lists. Already, Webster’s Dictionary announced that “polarizing” was their Top Word of 2024. Surely, more will follow as the New Year approaches. I am already wondering what the most Googled Bible verse of 2024 was…
As I wait, I have been doing my own personal Best of List. Really not a best of, because there is no such thing when it comes to prayer, but definitely these have been my favorite marriage prayer topics of 2024:
Show Me Me: Simple. Lord, show me who I really am, beyond the story I tell myself. As far as I am concerned I am 2024 Spouse of the Year, but just in case Lord, show me me, who I really am and where I need to grow - in Your sight.
For if anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself. Galatians 6:3
Go Beyond Me: I have thoughts, opinions, expectations about marriage and life. So I need God to go beyond me and give me His direction for what I am to do and how I am to be. Please Lord, go beyond me, don’t allow me to mess things up, go beyond me and lead me. The Lord is my Shepherd…Psalms 23
Use Me for Your Glory: Life and marriage give opportunity to react, respond and maybe even retaliate. So we pray to be used to show the significance of God in the insult, when lied on, disrespected and hurt. In the tough moments of marriage - use ME to demonstrate Your significance & Your glory in how I respond. whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.1 Peter 4:11
These have actually been on my heart with the Lord for some years, but this year they’ve really helped to draw me into deeper personal relationship with the Lord in my marriage. SO I pray they may encourage you in your own prayer time with the Lord concerning your marriage.
One final thought is that I notice each of these are individual marriage prayers but they make great places for couples to switch out a “me” with a “us” and seek the Lord together.
That’s it! Keep praying for your marriage as a whole and personally for how God wants to use you in and through your marriage - for His glory.
